Hagerstown is the seat of Washington County and the biggest city on our route west of Frederick. It sits where I-70 crosses I-81, which is why so much moves through it: the distribution warehouses along the interstates, Meritus Medical Center, Hagerstown Community College, and a steady stream of families who traded Frederick or Montgomery County prices for a brick house near City Park. The North End, the South End, Fountain Head, Robinwood, and the older blocks around Potomac Street all change hands regularly.
The housing mix is wide. Downtown is rowhouses and duplexes, a lot of them rentals. Out past Eastern Boulevard and off Robinwood Drive it's newer subdivisions and townhomes.
