Middletown sits in the valley between Catoctin Mountain and South Mountain, about seven miles west of Frederick on Alt US 40. It's the kind of Frederick County town people pick on purpose: a walkable Main Street, well-regarded schools, Wiles Branch Park, and farmland in every direction. Most of the people who live here work in Frederick, at Fort Detrick, or down I-270, and they moved out this way for a little more room and a lot more view.
The housing is a mix of Victorian and brick homes along Main Street, subdivisions like Foxfield and Glenbrook from the 1990s and 2000s, and farmhouses and newer homes on acreage toward Myersville, Braddock Heights, and Jefferson. Older homes mean full attics and stone basements. Newer ones mean garages that became storage the week the family moved in. When a house changes hands, we clear all of it and clean what's left.
Middletown is one exit off I-70 for us, and we're through the valley all the time on the way to Boonsboro and Hagerstown.
